Catch Me in the Light.
Pack Light Conversations.
The Mind, The Brain.
I recently began reading the book Switch on the Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf. In it she speaks about the idea of neuroplasticity which means that the brain is malleable and adaptable, changing moment by moment of every day (p.28).
She makes the clear distinction that the brain and the mind are not the same thing and that the debate between whether or not the brain dictates where the mind goes or if the mind can change the brains wiring (Neurogenesis) has an evident answer. This answer lies in our power to choose and to think our ways into health.
I share this with you as a person who believes wholeheartedly that each day I make the decision to live a better life, to feel better, to work harder, I am learning that I have control. It’s been a very long journey and I often have days similar to the one I share here in this vlog, but I’m so delighted for the day when I begin to fully lean into the notion that I am literally what I think and that what I think has the power to heal or destroy me.
Ain’t that exciting?! Maybe it’s just me. haha.
I Have Little Faith.
But here’s the thing.
That’s all you need.
A little bit.
So, that idea. That dream. That Desire.
Is available to you.
Change your mind about how you view the “small things,” because they matter too.
You Didn’t Miss it,Just Because You Couldn’t Capture It.
Did you get a chance to check out today’s IGTV (or Youtube) Pack Light Conversation? —
I had a dream (no, seriously, I did last night) that I missed the opportunity to capture the moment I enjoyed so greatly. I woke up a little frustrated because I knew I couldn’t get that dream back, but instead I decided to search for the meaning in why I probably “missed” the photo op.—
I started to think about how many of our moments are never fully enjoyed in presence and spirit. So, I leaned into the thought of idea that I was the person who received the most out of the experience because all I had was my full attention on that moment. No phones. No TVs. No tech. Just people. —
